Monotonous work will bore you today, but you need to remind yourself of how lucky you are to have this in your life. Try to spend at least some time on work that interests you and strike a balance between the two. It may be frustrating for you to have to do the duller work, but it’s necessary to deal with practical things as well as concentrating on the work that you are passionate about.
