Today is what you could call a mixed bag in terms of the astrology.

On one hand, we have the New Moon which is triggering the planet of good times and cheer, Jupiter. However, it’s also the planet of going over the top, excessive and amplification.

And on the other hand, we have the growing Mars/Pluto alignment. Mars is the God of war and Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld and eruptions.

If you know me, you know I always do my best to look on the bright side, while remaining real.

So here is some best-possible-scenario real talk.

The astrology of the coming 24 hours is not ideal, given the precarious situation the world is in right now.

The meeting of Mars and Pluto sets up a very angry scene.

Mars and Pluto only meet like this about once every two years. The last time they met up was March 2020. Pluto is the planet of pandemics and we all know what happened after that.
In an ideal world, if Putin were not invading Ukraine, this 2022 Mars/Pluto meeting could have been a turning point for us all. A new start. When two planets meet the way Mars/Pluto are meeting soon, it’s called the start of a new synodic cycle.

Synodic cycles start when two planets conjoin – in other words are on the same degree of the zodiac. In the case of this new Mars/Pluto synodic cycle, Mars and Pluto will both be at 27 Capricorn.

The next time they meet like this will be Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024, at 0 Aquarius.

We can follow the planets’ cycle using the same rules as for the lunation cycle:

The New (00º to 45º),
Crescent (45º to 90º),
First Quarter (90º to 135º),
Gibbous (135º to 180º),
Full (180º to 225º),
Disseminating (225º to 270º),
Last Quarter (270º to 315º) and
Balsamic (315º to 360º or 00º)

So this new Mars/Pluto conjunction arguably marks:

– a new cycle between warring Mars and eruptive Pluto
– the end of the two year cycle which involved the pandemic

I believe what we need to focus on is holding space for peace.

Feel the light.
Be the light.
Share the light.

If we can get past the Mars/Pluto conjunction in the coming 24 hours, the energetic landscape changes and eases.

For one thing, at its highest, Mars/Pluto will transform everything from the inside out. Maybe the world will come together and realise how much we value peace.

For another, Mars/Pluto in Capricorn can be a thorn in the side of unethical business and money-hoarding oligarchs who buy investment homes and leave them empty while people are homeless, among other things.
(I have nothing against people being wealthy but with great wealth surely must come the need for great ethics.)

The order of astrological events in the coming days is:

March 2

– Mercury/Saturn. A chance for talks which actually make a difference
– the New Moon conjunct Jupiter. Truly, it can kick off happier days (but it can also be just an amplification of the danger already in the air…)

March 3

– the Mars/Pluto conjunction. An escalation on this day could be extremely problematic however a ceasefire of *any kind* including merely while talks take place would be a very good sign for what’s to come.

And then we get a lot of information from the fact that Venus becomes active.

– Venus/Pluto. This is also very hopeful. Venus is the planet of peace. Perhaps the best possible scenario is that a female leader steps up and helps bring an end to the invasion. Or that light is brought by Venus to the underworld.

Ancient Greeks and Egyptians called Venus in her role as Morning Star (which she is in now) “Phosphorous”, which means ‘light-bearer,’ and “Heosphoros”, which means ‘dawn-bringer.’

May Venus bring us a new dawn!

Note that in ancient astrology, Venus as a morning star was often portrayed as an aggressive warrior goddess. However there is also a scenario where Venus fights for peace, as oxymoronic as that may sound. However, is Venus as a warrior the same as Mars as a warrior? Maybe not.

Maybe the warrior Venus crusades for peace.

Note that the Sumerian Goddess Inanna was known as the Goddess of sexual love and fertility, but also the Goddess of war.

“In the Christian context, (Venus), the Morning Star, is interpreted as Jesus Christ, who brings joy into the world, just as the Morning Star brings light to the day. Therefore, the Morning Star often symbolizes a sanctuary from darkness and the unknown. To some, it’s the personification of Jesus Christ, a source of light and happiness ending a dark night. – https://symbolsage.com/

March 5

– Sun/Jupiter conjunction. This is a once-a-year alignment. It may be slightly reaching, but there is a chance that this alignment could also see happier days returning. Though there is still a lot of work for us to do on the planet, this alignment is a good omen.

To again quote Lynn Bell’s excellent post: “(astrologer) Andre Barbault was always optimistic about Jupiter’s role as a peacemaker. The Sun will conjunct Jupiter (just before) Mars and Venus make a new conjunction in Aquarius, the sign of our common humanity. Will it be enough? … We always have the power to pull back from destruction.”

Again, focus on holding space for peace.
