What’s up in December?

The month starts with Mercury retrograding back into Scorpio

As regular readers will know, Mercury retrograde started on November 17. (It began the day after Venus retrograde finished!)

As November begins, Mercury is in the sign of Scorpio but on December 1, retrogrades further back into the previous sign of Sagittarius. So wherever you have Sagittarius in your chart (we all have all 12 signs of the zodiac in our chart) is where you are getting a second chance.

Then at the end of the first week, Mercury retrograde ends

Note that on December 7 (December 6 in the northern hemisphere) Mercury retrograde finally comes to an end, for this cycle. So that’s the good news for anyone who has been waiting for this cycle to conclude.

But not so fast! It’s important to allow a few days to pass before you start to consider Mercury retrograde well and truly over. In fact some purists say that Mercury retrograde isn’t over until Mercury has gone beyond the point where it was when it started to retrograde. In this case, that point is 13 Sadge. That actually won’t happen until Christmas Day! More about this next month.

Think about what it means for you on as deep a level as you can. (Read your Rising Sign if you know it, for even more accurate guidance). (If you don’t know your Rising Sign but you would like to, you can do your chart for free here)

Remember that Mercury is the planet of the mind, so it’s time for you to have a last final think about something and then as the retrograde ends, allow some time to pass. Expect the info you need to make a decision to come to you – consciously create it.

In a completely different way, Venus also enters Scorpio.

Venus will be moving forwards as She moves into the sign of Scorpio. Venus is the Goddess of the skies. Venus is the feminine principle, in a different way than the Moon is all about the feminine. The third part of the trilogy in Black Moon Lilith, but She’s another story.

Venus in Scorpio could be seen as “the angry beauty”. If you want to apply a Goddess energy, you couldn’t really go past Kali, the blue-faced, blood-thirsty and scary Goddess. Kali is Shakti in radiant warrior form.

On a more earthly level, Venus in Scorpio is a time when love can get down and dirty, in an underhand or a sexy way. Your call. Sort of depends on who you love, right? Here’s where Venus in Scorpio is for you:

Earlier this year, Venus went backwards – reversing as she does about once every 18 months. It’s all part of a new cycle which began at the last Venus retrograde in the sign of Aries 18 months before that.

Life goes in cycles! That’s one thing astrology teaches us.

There’s isn’t a lot happening the skies this month compared to recently. There have been so many big planetary changes affecting us all one way or another recently. Last month alone we had the move of lucky Jupiter into Sagittarius which is hopefully going to help deliver us all a happy silly season and into next year.

Where The Sun Is Shining

The next big planetary move of December is the Sun into the sign of Capricorn. You can think of the Sun as a sort of spotlight and whenever it changes signs, as it does once a month, it shines a spotlight on a different part of your chart. For example, it could be on your Love Zone or your Career Zone. Here’s where the spotlight is for you for December (and always is!)

The Sun in Capricorn of course goes with the end of the year and covers Christmas Day. (If Jesus really was born on December 25, he was a Capricorn not a Pisces, as people often assume, since Pisces is the super-spiritual sign and the mystical last sign of the zodiac.)

And speaking of Christmas Day…

The lead up to Christmas is bound to be a bit weird. There is a strange Mercury square to Neptune which could mean some confusion around —- everything! Given the recent Mercury retrograde, it could be “mystery solved” for some people, but most likely it will just be oddness in the air, which thankfully clears before Christmas lunch, pretty much no matter where you live in the world.

We will be in the waning cycle of the Moon, which is more of a yin time. In the northern hemisphere, it will be time to hunker down during the dark months, in the southern hemisphere, time to unfurl from the year.

The good news is that the first planetary alignment after Christmas Day is between Venus and Pluto and it’s harmonious. So there will be deep love, passion, good hotness, deep pockets and let’s say it again, deep love, in the air this Christmas. Boxing Day parties should be fun!

Where’s the Moon?

The New Moon this month takes place in the middle of Sagittarius and on December 7. A New Moon is always a new start – a fresh slate – so here is where it’s happening for you (remember to read your Rising Sign if you know it!)
