August 24 2008 Cosmic GirlAs I mentioned last week, this is an ideal time for healing, as we’ve all just been through the last eclipse season of the year. Complimentary therapies are really marvellous ways of releasing emotional trauma and there’s no better time to release blocked emotions than straight after the eclipses. I said I’d outline some of the leading alternative health modalities, so here goes. If you’re interested in getting any of these therapies, the best way to find someone is via word of mouth. This site is also an excellent resource: http://www.naturaltherapypages.com.au/ Acupuncture – this technique was judged by the US FDA more than 10 years ago to be “as good as or better than” Western medicine for treating a variety of ailments, including such diverse problems as carpel tunnel syndrome and the nausea associated with morning sickness and chemotherapy. It uses needles to release energy blockages on the body. Most Western doctors can’t explain why it works but enough GPs now practise it in Australia to have formed the Medical Acupuncture College. Kinesiology – this is hard to explain but an incredible therapy! It works on the theory that we store everything that happens to us as memories in our body. Using a technique known as muscle-testing, the kinesiologist helps draw out any problematic memories so they’re no longer weighing us down, so to speak. I’ve had this many times and it works like very fast-track traditional ‘counselling therapy’. Chakra therapy – more and more people practise this. Chakras are energy hotspots on the body. They’re used in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, (both of which have a history dating back thousands of years earlier than Western medicine). In a nutshell you could say chakras are the bridge or link between our physical bodies and the Cosmos. When our chakras are out of whack, which happens after too much stress, bad living, exposure to pollution etc, we feel poorly and the seeds of illness are sewn. Meditation and yoga automatically realign your chakras. Or you can get someone to do it for you. This is who I studied with http://www.healer.ch. (If enough people contact him, he might do an Aussie workshop!) I‘d also highly recommend Reiki. As nearly anyone who’s ever had a session will tell you, it’s a surprisingly powerful therapy, given that all it involves is someone putting their hands on your body and channelling Universal energy into you! See http://www.reiki.com.au/ for Australia’s busiest Reiki teacher. According to new ABS figures, there’s been a 51% increase in the number of people seeking out alternative therapies in the past 10 years. As the planet of truth and rigour, Saturn, moves through the sign of alternative health, Virgo, people are starting to realise the simple fact; complimentary therapies work. Q&A Q Is there something weird going on with my planets? I’ve never felt so unsettled in my life and have no idea where my future is going. 23/1/66 at 7.30am in Hay, NSW. A Neptune’s hovering on your Ascendant. You can pretty much expect to feel unsure of where to go next at this time! Follow your intuition, rather than trying too hard to be logical. That might be odd advice but it works with your chart right now. If you don't know how to meditate, there'll never be a better time to learn. Click here for more astrology |
