back:

So you need a miracle?

by Yasmin Boland

It's hardly surprising that Christianity has gone way out of style, given most churches’ no sex before marriage, no contraception and no divorce rules, not to mention an apparent onus on Christians to wear sensible shoes and Peter Pan collars. Why, they’ve even banned one of my favourite subjects, astrology!

Slightly weirdly, though, while church-going is so unhip it doesn’t even register on most radars, the concept of Christ is alive and well in new age circles. Some new age-ologists expound the magic good of a man they call Sananda. They say Sananda is the ‘risen Christ’ who exists ‘up there’ now (as opposed to ‘Christ the man’, who existed on Earth). Other regularly tap into what they call ‘Christ Consciousness’- the highest level of ‘good thinking’, which is said to dwell in the 13th dimension, wherever that is.

I like the concept of Christ Consciousness. Whether you reckon Christianity and The Bible is genuine or a control-the-rabble scam, there’s surely no doubt that Jesus Christ (real or fictional) was a warrior for good. Quite apart from raising the dead and turning water into wine, his suggestions that people ‘do as they would be done by’, respect their parents and avoid coveting their neighbours’ wives were all sound.

So what does all this have to do with anything? Simple. You can use Christ Consciousness to work your own personal miracle. You do this by reciting a prayer, called a Novena, nine times a day for nine consecutive days. (If you forget one day, you have to start all over again.) The wonderful thing about saying a Novena is that if you’re trying to manifest something you don’t really believe in, you soon run out of enthusiasm before the prayer cycle is done.

These are the words.

May the sacred heart of Jesus be praised, blessed, adored and glorified, now and forever. Amen.

If you say a Novena, you must also promise to let someone else know about it, posting in on your website, by running a small classified ad with the words in your local paper, by writing them down and sticking them up on a local bulletin board or by telling a friend who needs to hear them. As always, you must only manifest “for the good of all” so no dedicating your Novena to anything which would manipulate, harm or upset anyone else. I’ll stick my neck way out and tell you that I’ve never known a Novena to fail. Good luck!
