The start of a whole new cycle

As you may know, Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. In the northern hemisphere, this makes total sense.

The Sun and the New Moon are both in Aries at the time we get springtime.

In fact it’s the Sun’s move into Aries, known as the ‘Aries Ingress’, that officially marks the end of winter and the start of spring in the northern hemisphere.

So it makes sense for Aries to be the start of the zodiac, since it’s all about freshness, newness springing up, revitalization after a long, cold winter, our inner child and beginnings.

What about Australia, New Zealand et al?

What about Australia and everywhere else in the southern hemisphere? This is the eternal question for those of us who grew up south of the equator. Obviously when the Sun moves into Aries, it’s actually the start of autumn Down Under.

After thinking long and hard about this over several year, I have come to the following conclusion; it doesn’t matter. It actually all still works, in a really weird way.

Here’s the thing, in the northern hemisphere, you could argue that the start of the new year is in some ways the September back to school time. That’s the Libra Ingress and when the new school year starts. Everyone goes on holidays in July and/or August and then it’s back to work in September. Yes, the leaves are turning brown and starting to fall, yes it’s sort of almost the middle of the year, but summer was the peak and now the new cycle starts.

And I think think this is how the Aries Ingress can work for Australia. Yes it’s April and yes summer is over and autumn is setting in but you can definitely feel a new season starting. For me, it all still works perfectly,

In some ways, you could say that the turn of all 4 seasons has very similar restart energy. Working with the seasons is such a powerful practise! That said, if you follow astrology, thinking of this time of the year NOW as a restart time is ideal.

The reason – just to explain again – is that the Sun and the New Moon are in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac. So wherever you are in the world, it’s the start of THAT new celestial cycle.

Back to the basics…

For me, this time of the year is about second chances, coming so soon as it does from the turn of the year.

I would say that one of the best “uses” of this period of the year, again, wherever you are in the world, is that if you have been on again, off-again with your New and Full Moon practices and devotions so far this year, you have a second chance.

Make a commitment to the Moon

Use this week’s New Moon in Aries to make a commitment to working with the New and Full Moon every single month for the year ahead. It will change your life in ways you never thought possible.

So, get aligned with the cosmic energies and you’ll start to see it’s possible to manifest your dream life!

This week also sees a gorgeous transition from a Mercury-Neptune (mind-dreams) connection to the New Moon to a Mercury-Saturn (mind-reality) alignment.

Three good reasons…

New Moon weeks are always times to visualize your goals, but that goes triple this week because:

1. It’s the first New Moon of the new lunar cycle.

2. There are Mercury-Neptune-Saturn conditions.

3. Visualization is one of the most powerful things to do at any time, but especially at a time like this!

Give yourself a good 5-15 minutes just to think about whatever it is that you want.

Feel the love and gratitude this reality would bring you, then surrender your dreamsto the Divine.
