It’s a Full Moon week
A few months ago I had a big kick up the patootie about the power of surrender. I have known about surrender for a very long time, thanks to my visits to a particular Indian ashram over the years (I have been going there on and off since 2005).
The teacher there, Narayani Amma, gives what are called “discourses”. One time, Amma talked about karma and grace and surrender. Basically what my teacher said was (and I am wildly paraphrasing!) is; you can pray to the Divine to take away some karma that you have to face but the karma will just back up on top of itself and get more and more tricky to endure!
Which is why, if you can possible bear to, it’s such a good idea to use the Full Moon this week to surrender whatever issues you’re facing to the Divine.
How to surrender…
So how do you do that? My method is to go into the garden with a little fire pit I bought in India and burn wood and pour ghee over it and chant “Om Namo Narayani” which means “I surrender to the Divine!” While I do this, I get myself into a state of gratitude – grateful that I have this chance to surrender, grateful for all the good in my life, grateful that I can release control.
As regular readers know I also do Full Moon forgiveness at the Full Moon. It’s a way of making peace with everything and everyone. Here are the words I say out loud:
‘Under the glorious Full Moon, I forgive everything, everyone, every experience, every memory of the past or present that needs forgiveness. I forgive positively everyone. I also forgive myself of past mistakes. The Universe is love, and I am forgiven and governed by love alone. Love is now adjusting my life. Realizing this, I abide in peace.
‘I bring love and healing to all my thoughts, beliefs and relationships. I learn my lessons and move on. I call on my soul fragments to be cleansed by the Full Moon and I call on them to rejoin me. I send love to myself and everyone I know, and everyone who knows me, in all directions of time. Under this glorious Full Moon, I am healed. My life is healed. And so it is. So be it.”
