Are you God? Goddess?

I’m STILL reading Wayne Dyer’s new book Wishes Fulfilled. It’s really an amazing book and as I have said over on my Facebook page, it’s so rich, that I can’t just speed through it like I so often do when reading. It’s like a massive chocolate cake. Not only do you want to savour each morsel, but eating it all at once would do you no good.

In the case of Wishes Fulfilled, the issue is that there are so many astonishing and beautifully-expressed ideas, that I quite simply need time to digest each nugget.

One idea I wanted to talk about here – as much to get my ideas out on “paper” as for anything else – is Dr Dyer’s assertion in the book that “We are all God”. Or at the very least “We are all an aspect of God.” Or as I like to refer to God, God/dess (because that takes in the masculine and feminine and as far as I concerned, it’s inconceivable that God is only male or only female, God has to be everything.)

In one way, this idea is a relatively new concept to me. It certainly isn’t what I was taught growing up Catholic. God/dess was very much “out there” not “in me”. However when I first heard this idea, say 15 years ago, I took to it straight away. It sort of made me laugh. But I liked the idea and I could see it totally.

The idea that God is a man with a long white beard is clearly silly (well, in my world anyway). And the more I have tested the law of attraction over the years, the more I have seen that it really does appear that we create our reality with our thoughts – for better or worse!

So it stands to reason that we are all a part of God/dess. Dr Dyer goes to great lengths in Wishes Fulfilled to ensure that we don’t think he is being blasphemous by suggesting such a think but I didn’t find it at all offensive. For me, it’s a mega concept, but it makes sense.

As Neptune moves through Pisces, it’s the right time to ask this question.

PS If you’re a dyed in the wool Christian and this idea offends you, apologies. I’m not trying to upset anyone.

The gospel of st Thomas is in complete agreement that God is inside all of us. It’s a wonderful inspiring piece of early Christian writing. . Thomas quotes Jesus as saying …..’.the Kingdom of God is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living Father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty, and it is you who are that poverty.’

    Dora,
You are the proof! We/you are God/dess. Love your attitude. As they say…….Attitude is everything!

Yasmin, I am reading this wonderful book, deeply and lovingly, right now too. It certainly does take time to absorb and I read pages over and over until it really sinks in. It is deeply apparent to me how “I am God” is absolutely true. I had read “The Three Magic Words” and that was magnetic, with its message of “You are God” that Dr. Dyer cites in “Wishes Fulfilled”. I am filled with positive affirmations all laced with “I AM” thoughts for every moment. I am observing the changes that are flowing as I commit to this wonderfully powerful way of thinking about me. I am quite clear too, that we need no permission from those who wish to see themselves as victims to a punishing god. I think it’s terribly important when Dr. Dyer says me must protect our imagination from anyone who tries to assail us for living by it. It’s a powerful tool to use when living an “I am God” life. Keep enjoying it!! :-)

That’s the second time in a week someone’s mentioned this Three Magic Words book to me. I think the Universe is trying to tell me something!

I too have believed this for a long time, but have only just realised that we absolutely have the power to create our own realities. I was raised as a Christian but could never come terms with God as vengeful as portrayed by some. I have always believed that Jesus lived and that he was here to show us what we are capable of and that this was done as an act of love. It was only when I started to get into Neuro Linguistic Progrmming that things started to make sense and I now understand that we are indeed aftraid of our own light . I have recently read The Power by Rhonda Byrne and am now reading Synchrodestiny, which backs up all the ideas in The Power with science. The more I delve into this, the more I absolutely believe and the more I feel grateful for. I can honestly say that I can see why and how my life has mapped out the way it has to date and that I know without a doubt that my life will turn out exactly as I now imagine. Thank you Universe for this truly amazing journey!!!!

as a person who was born with a birth accident (later revealed as malpractice) it has been hard for some to understand that i am not necessarily bitter or a “victim” in my feelings about that. but perhaps it stems from their lack of understanding of abundance in others/themselves. what is disturbing to me is that i hear that i am ‘in denial’ about myself; that i ‘must’ want to hate my body or do away with myself, when the solution to the “problem” is love–what kind of “solution” to what “problem” , in other words. i sense rejection of their own bodies’ potential for what happened to me possibly happening to them; their fears blocking out the joy i actually feel in my own body as a living, sensing being–just like anyone else. i see “me” as an extension of the Divine, of the diverse forms in Life, and do not feel divided about that. of course, there have been others who understand me more; my family wholeheartedly love me as myself and i was not raised to see myself as ‘needing to be fixed’ unless i chose that option myself. i hope and pray others can realize their whole, flesh-and-blood humanity as vital and acceptable and express themselves with more confidence and less fear of the “others” who do not appear to be just as worthy of life as they are.

I had a similar “knowing” experience as Mary in the middle of the night (1:11) to be exact and it gave me such comfort that I have never doubted nor argued with the knowledge. Instead of appearing blasphemous I think it makes you humble in a way that is reinforced by also knowing and feeling a connection to every living thing. I met Wayne Dyer in the 90′s and he is truly an amazing man. Must order the book online. Thanks Yasmin :-)

  7. Mary Hutton says:

I ‘knew’ this when I was 14 and that was a long time ago! It just ‘came’ to me, out of the blue and not requested. I voiced my thoughts to my mother, who smiled. I voiced my thoughts to her Catholic friends around for afternoon tea one day and they were horrified! It’s just a knowing thing; an awareness that commands respect and love and certainly does not seek to replace one’s religious beliefs. It is who we are.

Hi Mary – thanks. You must be tuned in! I “got” that God would never have crucified Jesus but it took me a while to “get” that we are God!!! :-) Yasmin x
