    Hi Darelle,

I am getting very confused as there are so many different opinions and schools of thought on Feng Shui. Are you of the opinion that the Bagua needs to be reversed for the Southern Hemisphere? Unfortunately, I am not able to determine the year of construction of the house I live in, so I am hoping that using my own personal Kua number (6) will be sufficent.

    Blessings,
    Jacqueline.

      Hi Jacqueline,
qi travels along magnetic pathways so as long as you are measuring the qi with a compass (that measures according to Magnetic North, NOT Map/True North which is found on many compass Apps), then there is no need to reverse anything at all whether you live in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere or on the equator. Some people mistakenly think the seasonal aspects of BaZi/4 Pillars astrology necessitates a reversal of the hemispheres however this is because they are taking the seasons too literally rather than seeing them as part of a mathematical formula that is universal in its application when determining the strength or weakness of one’s day master element. I understand your confusion – there are gazillions of books out there about feng shui with some using a ‘one size fits all’ 9 grid map of life aspiration points, while others claim each compass sector belongs to a particular life aspiration point and so on. These new age easy to use one size fits all applications are not really based on the original practice of feng shui. They are a modern adaption of the Trigrams to apply to your positive intentions rather than the actual feng shui of the building.

The best book you can read for real and authentic feng shui knowledge is “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Feng Shui – Third Edition”. It dispels the myths and teaches you real fei xing/flying star feng shui and how to apply it to your home and business.

Regarding the period of construction, if you are unsure whether it is between 2 different 20 year time periods, then draw up a natal chart for both time periods and see which chart is having an actual effect on the occupants. The easiest way to do this is to place water in the water star 8 location and take note of the effects (for one chart at a time) and to also take note if anyone is sleeping in a mountain star 2 or 5 location according to either chart – they would theoretically be more susceptible to health issues depending on the flying star combination in that compass sector.

As a Kua 6 metal individual, you naturally respond best to West, NW, NE and SW so when sitting at your work or study desk, you should sit facing towards one of these directions in order to achieve more productively and creatively.

      cheers,

      Derelle

  2. Stephanie Shaw says:

Aside from having a number “4″ in my address, I have inplemented every feng shui method for positive chi but may still lose my home to a short sale. Is there anything I can do that will immediately help me increase my ability to keep my home through successfully negotiating a loan modification?

    • Derelle says:

Hi Stephanie, the main criteria to address when looking to sell your home are as follows:

      1. Address the senses – ie the home and surrounding landform must look, smell, feel and sound good to the prospective buyer), so make sure there is no clutter, no peeling paintwork, musty smells, mould in the bathroom (or anywhere else), keep the front and back yard tidy and manicured, clean all the windows and let fresh air into the home regularly to cross ventilate, burn a pleasant blend of essential oils (I like lavender, orange and bergamot) and dust hard surfaces regularly.

      2. Locate the siang sin /water star 8 and 9 locations of your home and property according to the fei xing/flying star chart of your home and activate with a water feature (if practically possible) and make sure the real estate agent spends plenty of time listing your home’s main selling points while standing with the potential buyer in these locations. If the house goes to auction, the auctioneer should be standing in the location of the water star 8 to attract a better price by tapping into the abundance chi of the 8. If you don’t know the flying star chart of your home (which is determined via the date of construction and the precise compass orientation) then at least energise the West sector of the home where the lucky annual 8 White abundance energy currently resides until 3rd Feb 2013 with regular activity and movement and the sound of metal via harmonious piano music and/or a pleasant sounding metallic bell or singing bowl. If you’d like to find out more about the flying star chart of your home then a great book to get you on the right ‘fenging’ track is “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Feng Shui – 3rd Edition”. Silly title but still a great book for dispelling the fenging myths and teaching authenic feng shui to the beginner.

      3. Space Clear your home to freshen up the chi, using the sound of metal plus sage and/or sandalwood incense.

      cheers,

      Derelle
